I did not come to believe, but to listen for light and to breathe. Being was my belief and I breathed with more mouths than a tree.

- John Carroll

A Great Place

While the focus of Algonkian Park is more on active recreation such as golf, soccer and swimming pools, than the passive park attributes, there are some lovely trails to walk along the river and it's a great access point for kayaking.

The trails and the scenic river way are a great place to see birds and explore nature. A quiet paddle down the river in the early morning will yield views of Great Blue Herons, king fishers, eagles, and all sorts of song birds. Walking through the trails that parallel the river, you can find lovely wildflowers, stands of Paw Paw trees, interesting insects and more.
