Great woodland trails for a quiet nature walk, wonderful birding and some easy hiking that can take you right down to the Potomac River. Early April is an amazing time at Balls Bluff with its richness in diversity of spring wildflowers.

The proximity to the Potomac makes this area a nice draw for birds and in places along the bluff, you are near the top of the canopy making for some nice views of wildlife activity higher up.

The shade of the trees is especially welcome on a hot summers day and you can also learn about various aspects of the civil war as this is a historic location.

Seven trails cross and loop through the park. They range in length from 1/2 mile to 2 miles. The trails are marked with color blazes.

Balls Bluff is part of the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail.

Hours:
Open daily, dawn to dusk.

Facilities:
There is a port-o-jon at the parking area, and there are benches at various spots along the interpretive trail.

Driving directions:
Route 7 west toward Leesburg, then Route 15 Bypass north. Turn right on Battlefield Parkway and take your first left on Ball's Bluff Road. The park is located at the end of the street. You can also get directions through our google map.
