Loudoun County VA is a vulture 'hot spot' in the United States, similar to Hinckley OH, Kern River Valley CA, and Wenonah NJ.  We must learn to appreciate vultures and teach others not to fear them. Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy keeps an eye out for our vultures and speaks out on their behalf because they are often misunderstood here.

International Vulture Awareness Day. Since 2009, celebrated the first Saturday in September by over 100 organizations worldwide.
Audubon CA Kern River Preserve Turkey Vulture Festival. Since 1994, celebrated annually in late September to mark turkey vulture migration.
Hinckley OH Buzzard Day. Since 1957, celebrated every March 15 in Hinckley OH and Cleveland Metroparks to welcome the return of turkey vultures.
wenonah Wenonah, NJ East Coast Vulture Festival. Beginning in 2006, an annual event in February or March to educate the public about black and turkey vultures.
