Bringing Kids and Nature Together!
The purpose of the camp is to give children the opportunity to explore, enjoy and feel comfortable with all that nature has to offer.

Who: Campers entering grades 3-7

Dates: June 28-July 2 and July 12-16

Camp Hours: 9 am to 3 pm

Location: Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve

Cost: $130 per week

Getting back to nature
Exploring the woods

Activities include:

- Hiking to explore the woods, streams, fields, and pond environments

- Observing creatures in their natural habitats and documenting these observations

- Enjoying games which enhance understanding of the natural world

Our Site
Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve is a truly wondrous place, located on Woods Road, 5 miles south of Leesburg, VA, off of Route 15. The preserve has 700 acres of glorious, varied habitat.

 

Our Camp Leaders  
Naturalist & Director, Phil Daley:
Phil Daley, a retired Air Force Colonel and former high school teacher has a degree in Natural Resources Management. He has been a naturalist and camp leader for the past ten years and leads nature walks for schools, scouts and various adult groups throughout the county. “Mr. Phil” has extensive knowledge of animals, plants and stream monitoring, which he enthusiastically shares with
our campers.
Fun with Phil and Ellie Daley

Special Activities Coordinator, Ellie Daley:
Ellie Daley has a degree in elementary education and more than 25 years experience as an elementary and preschool teacher. She also has extensive experience as a camp counselor. Ellie provides a unique insight into nature’s pleasures and will lead some really fun learning activities for our campers. She has been an adjunct staff member of this camp for seven years, becoming Activity Coordinator in 2005.

Phil and Ellie are supported during this camp by Paul Miller, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy's Environmental Education Committee chair, and our intern who help kids learn about and explore our environment.
